He gave unselfishly to help anyone in need. He made everyone feel like they were someone special. Gabe’s Heart Foundation is designed to honor people that display similar characteristics. Throughout the year, several special recipients will receive an exceptional award that represents Gabe’s thoughtful heart.     We are in the process of adopting a Bulgarian child. Bulgaria is the poorest country in the European Union. The number one reason for so many orphans is extreme poverty. The majority of orphans are of Roma decent. There is a great deal of racism against this population, they have little hope for adoption. Our desire is to bring hope to one or two orphans and make them a part of our family.

    Description
    Levine Children's Hospital is a 234-bed hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina, located on the main campus of Carolinas Medical Center. Since opening in December 2007, the hospital has grown to include more than 30 pediatric specialties and has already received national distinction by U.S. News & World Report as one of "America's Best Children's Hospitals" for treatment of kidney disorders. Levine Children's Hospital is also home to the Ricky Hendrick Centers for Intensive Care, which support pediatric intensive and cardiovascular surgery patients. Additional distinctions include organ and bone marrow transplants; pediatric dialysis; interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery; heart-lung bypass capabilities for newborns and pediatric patients; an inpatient pediatric rehabilitation unit; and 24/7 emergency services. Levine Children's Hospital is the most comprehensive facility of its type between Atlanta, GA and Washington, DC meaning most children no longer need to travel outside of the region to receive the care they need. Most recently, Levine Children's Hospital announced the formation of the Carolinas Kids Cancer Research Coalition, a group of eight of the region's most dedicated nonprofit organizations committed to supporting pediatric cancer research and services at Levine Children's Hospital.

    As part of Feeding America, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina  serves 19 counties in North and South Carolina. In FY2011-2012, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina distributed over 38 million pounds of food and essential grocery items to over 600 hunger feeding agencies. Agencies served include emergency pantries, soup kitchens, senior programs, shelters and low-income daycares.
